2021 Travels
We had a marvelous 2021! We traveled 25,000 miles (about one time around the world) but that includes local travel, car travel, bike, boat and walking. Our highlights include our trip to Montana (Billings and Red Lodge) where we enjoyed some of the best hiking! We spent time with family in Wisconsin and we had a bucket list stay at Fort Wilderness in 2021 and we spent a couple of weeks in Sevierville, TN where we explored the great Smoky Mountains and some touristy spots. We landed in Port Charlotte, FL at the end of the year for our winter in Florida. We are truly blessed.
May 2022
We took a straight shot from Central Florida to Madison, WI trying to find great places to fill up the gas tank. Our son and daughter-in-law live in Madison and we enjoy staying at a local county park right on Lake Mendota. We enjoyed the local farmer's market, which was one of the best we've ever been to, local restaurants and sights while catching up. We then traveled though Michigan's beautiful Upper Penninsula to then make it to Traverse City, MI where we will enjoy our summer.
February-April, 2022
There are several spots missing from the map. We stayed close to central Florida and enjoyed our Disney Pixie Passes. We enjoy all of the fabulous music that Disney had to offer. We enjoy Disney Springs in the evening, where you can walk from venue to venue and enjoy free concerts. Sometimes we'll get a bite to share or a drink someplace to enjoy music at an establishment but for the most part we get in and get out without spending anything. We also enjoy Epcot's American Pavillion where there has been some amazin performances. Pointer Sisters, Kool and the Gang, were a couple of highlights as well as some fantastic local talent. Finally, we enjoy Port Orleans Scat Cat's Club. This intimate setting is perfect for a small jazz combo and definately one of our favorite venues!
December 21 and January 2022
Interestingly enough, our December 2021 and January 2022 maps both stayed in the middle belt of Florida. We purchased Disney Pixie Annual Passes and have explored a great deal but it made us look at how much we're also missing in Florida. Florida isn't just Universal, Disney and Orlando. We need to get back to the beaches, explore and sightsee a bit more. We need to become a tourist again. We are writing this in February. Now that the few days of cold weather seem to be behind us, we can do that!
The Tampa RV Show was a great experience in mid-January when we volunteered to help drive guests around the show and share our knowledge and experience. It was a blast to meet so many people in the RV community. It felt great to volunteer and give back!
November 2021
We are certainly enjoying the Florida weather. We've traveled from the northeastern shores to the gulf coast. We stayed in Port Charlotte along the Myakka River for the month of November. Myakka River Motor Coach Resort certainly did spoil us for November. It's a beautiful resort with some amazing amenities. We mostly loved exploring this Gulf region and enjoyed some quiet beach time. Our picnics were fabulous along the Gulf Coast in this area.
October 2021
As you can see.... We took off for Florida! You may also be able to see that we spent some time exploring Tennessee. We were fortunate to spend almost two full weeks at a beautiful resort, Anchor Down RV Resort in Dandridge, TN. They did it right when they built this resort! Terraced sites that overlook Douglas Lake with views of the Smokey Mountains and close by to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Knoxville, Sevierville, and more!! We also had some amazing Harvest Host experiences on our travels. We landed in Flagler Beach, FL on Halloween to visit with friends, enjoy the ocean and sunrise!
September 2021
Continuing from our travels in August, we left Montana into Wyoming where we stayed at amazing Harvest Host, Our Wyoming Life. You have to check them out! They have an amazing story, YouTube Channel, and other social media outlets. From there into beautiful South Dakota and back into Minnesota and Wisconsin for a short visit with our son and daughter-in-law before coming back into Michigan. Our maps above show more detail and are updated more frequently. Check out our overnight stay at Blendon Pines Alpaca Farm such a nice stay and the alpacas will steal your heart. If you aren't a member of Harvest Host, check it out. This is one of our favorite ways to travel and find places to stay.
August 2021
Our third season started off with a trip to Montana to see family. We enjoyed our time together, hiking, sightseeing and exploring. We started from Michigan and traveleved through Michigan's beautiful upper peninsula into Wisconsin where we visited with our son and daughter-in-law. They just moved to the Madison area and we were so thrilled to explore and find some wonderful restaurants, stores, and offerings. Then into Minnesota, North Dakota where we took a quick afternoon trip to Theodore Roosevelt National Park. It quickly became on of our favorite National Parks. In Montana we celebrated Michelle's birthday, did some hiking in Red Lodge and took the drive over the Beartooth Pass to visit the northern area of Yellowstone National Park. We traveled into South Dakota but that was in September so we'll pick up there next month.
