Suttons Bay
Today was EPIC! The weather was perfect. The Lake Michigan waters were crystal clear. There was virtually no wind and no crowds.
We dropped the boat in at Suttons Bay and traveled the coast up to Omena Bay. We had burgers on the grill and enjoyed some fantastic Michigan wine from Brys Estate Winery.
One of our favorite days for sure!

Elk Lake
Elk Lake revisited - We enjoyed a few hours on Elk Lake now that the fall temps are here are after the Labor Day holiday. You can definitely feel and see the change in the season and we felt like we had the whole lake to ourselves.
Vacation homes are being closed up and boat ramps are disappearing.
We are hoping to catch more and more color this fall before we start SEASON 2 this October.
Lake Leelanau
One of favorite upnorth communities is Leland! We love to visit "Fishtown", grab some smoked whitefish, crackers and a bottle of local wine and find a great picnic spot along the water or in a park.
This time we were able to enjoy the area from the water side. Our trip with Denny and Susan on Lake Leelanau was absolutely perfect. (Wednesday, August 12, 2020) Sunny in the high 70s and little to no wind. Perfect for a boating day. We enjoyed a picnic lunch of brisket sandwiches. Kunio grilled the brisket for 5 hours the day before and boy did they taste great.
We aren't sure which of the many lakes we are going to try next but we look forward to the adventure.
East Bay North - Elk Rapids
We took a dinner cruise. Drinks, Michigan Koegels on the BBQ, Potato Salad and Cole Slaw on a warm August evening complete with a swim and great friends!
Who could ask for anything more?
This is the northern end of East Bay into Elk Rapids Harbor and swimming on one of the many eastern sand bars along the way.
We didn't boat very far and we were very happy to float, anchor, swim and enjoy!
We hope you like the short video of our cruise up to Elk Rapids, Michigan
West Bay - Traverse City, Michigan
Wednesday, August 5, 2020 - We put in at Bowers Harbor and made the short trip over to Power Island. The wind was more a bit stronger than forecasted so we decided to take lunch while protected on the east side of the island.
Captain Denny tried to get some drone footage as the wind was dying down. From there we decided to travel the 7 or so miles to Traverse City and explore West Bay.
The beautiful homes, cool, clear waters and sandy beaches were amazing to look at and I couldn't resist letting the GoPro go for a dive to show how clear the water was.
Lake Charlevoix
Lake Charlevoix and the beautiful city of Charlevoix is a Northern Michigan tourist destination in the summer and to the south, Boyne City in the winter with some great skiing.
We've been enjoying the lakes. This was our trip on July 31, 2020
We're going to Traverse City West Bay in the beginning of August. Stay tuned...
East Bay - Traverse City, Michigan
Check out the crystal clear waters of East Bay in Traverse City, Michigan. We have been coming to the Traverse City area for 30+ years and this is our first time boating in East Bay.
Seeing the many hotels along Front street from the water side was very interesting for us.
We enjoyed seeing the beautiful homes with our friends and enjoyed a picnic on the boat! Fun times!
Elk Lake to Skegemog Lake to Torch Lake
Exploring the lakes with D & S has been a real treat! D is a well traveled captain and Kunio has enjoyed learning about boating through him.
Our weather was perfect for boating on Tuesday, July 21. We put in at the Whitewater Township Boat Ramp, made our way to Skegemog Lake and finally into the beautiful Caribbean blue waters of Torch Lake.
Elk Lake
We have been blessed to meet some wonderful people on our RV journey. The RV community is full of people with so many experiences in their professional lives and especially in their love for travel and adventure.
We met D & S because they have the same Lectric bikes as we do. (Kunio thought that they were taking off on our bikes - which is a whole funny story)
Since then, we've had so many great times sharing and enjoying all that Northern Michigan has to offer including a few favorite Michigan wines.
Mackinaw City, MI
We love spending our summer in beautiful, Northern Michigan. Our teaching career started in Kalkaska, MI and since then we've always loved to make a trip to the Mackinaw Bridge. Just a quick video on a beautiful, summer day.

Our daughter came to visit us during her spring break from Central Michigan University. We were able to visit Sedona, Mesa, Superstition Mountains and more. As the week unfolded, March 6-13, 2020, we were quickly finding out that many things were quickly changing, especially for her. She would be returning to CMU to teach and attend classes online and her graduation ceremony would be cancelled. Luckily, Lauren found out before spring break that she had passed her comprehensive exams for her masters program so we had a wonderful time and celebrated her successes. Here is a short video of some of the fun things that we did!

Friends traveling to Atlanta were stopping for the night as well. We had a great time touring Music City at night by bus. This city is more than the home to country music. You can hear every genre at any time throughout the day at hundreds of venues in the city.
